RYA Windsurfing Courses

The Watersports Academy offers a wide range of windsurfing courses along with high end equipment hire. Our teaching techniques have been developed over the years to incorporate changes in equipment and sailing techniques. We have an extensive range of JP boards and Neilpryde sails to suit beginners through to advanced wave riders.

Our windsurfing lessons take place in the waist-deep, sheltered waters of Poole Harbour which offers the perfect training ground for first-time windsurfers through to experienced wave sailors wanting to perfect their technique.

What makes us different? The purpose-built Watersports Academy is located at the harbour's edge and provides not only first-class tuition but hot showers and changing facilities! We are the only RYA recognised training centre for windsurfing in Sandbanks and, with all of our instructors being RYA qualified, you can be sure you are in safe hands.

Windsurfing Lessons

Hourly Taster session
Duration: 1 hour Price - £25

There is no better way to get into windsurfing - try one of our hourly taster lessons and we will have you up and surfing within the hour. Guaranteed! All you need to bring is a towel and a swim suit.

Private Advanced Session
Duration: 3 hours Price - £80

Take this opportunity to take your windsurfing to the next level. This course covers fast tacks, beach starts and an introduction to the harness. The private one to one instruction allows you to work on areas that need most improvement.

Windsurfing Adult Courses

Start Windsurfing RYA Level 1
Duration: 2 days Price - £160

This course is designed for beginners who want to take up or try windsurfing. We teach you on the latest wide-style boards with lightweight sails. The course takes you through an RYA log book covering such things as turning up wind and down wind, rigging and weather. It’s a fantastic course to get you into windsurfing. The level one certificate you gain means you are able to come and hire from us in the future. Course includes wetsuit, log book and certificate - all you need to bring is a towel.

Intermediate Windsurfing (planing and non-planing)
Duration: 2 days Price - £199

The intermediate course is split into two categories to ensure a smooth progression. The aim of the course is to improve techniques that will make your tacks faster, gybes slicker and get complete control of being in the harness. During the planing course we will look at carve gybes, deep beach starts and getting comfortable with foot straps.
