Located on the Sandbanks Peninsula the Academy is ideally positioned to access many, and varied, routes. Whether you want a gentle cycle along the beach promenade or to go further afield, through the Purbecks to lunch in one of the many beautiful pubs in the area. Whatever your choice - we will set you off in the right direction.

Routes

Take a map and explore, we have listed the three most popular routes starting with the gentlest first.

Route one
Beach Promenade

A flat route with no traffic. This ride takes you along the beach promenade, with the sea on one side and local cafes and restaurants on the other. This route is perfect for families with young children. There are plenty of places to stop on the beach to get lunch, drinks and an ice cream. Please note: Promenade closed July and August.

Route two
Poole Quay

Cycle into Poole and spend time watching the boats and fishermen on Poole Quay. This route takes you around Poole Harbour through Poole and Harbour side parks. The otherwise scenic route includes one hill and a short stretch of road ride using cycle lanes.

Route three
Bankes Arms pub and Old Harry Rocks

For the more adventurous cyclist, after crossing over on the chain ferry to Studland, the Bankes Arms public house, lies a few miles ahead. With fantastic views of Poole Bay and Old Harry Rocks it is the perfect place to relax and enjoy your surroundings. Perhaps take time out here to enjoy a drink and / or meal in the gardens before heading back. This route has wonderful views for most of the trip and is the perfect way so start exploring The Purbecks.

Alternative Routes

Routes through Remstone Forest, Corfe Castle and Ballard Down are also available on request.

Helmets and locks are supplied with all cycles hired.

Bike Hire prices

Adult bike
£20.00 per day / £12.50 per half day

Children’s bike
£10.00 (4 - 11 years)* / tag-along bike: £10.00 (3-7 years)* / trailer bike: £10.00 (1 year - 5 years)*

*Prices are per day however bicycles can be hired for longer periods; part day hire is subject to demand and cannot be booked. Deposit is required on the day of hire.

Guided Tours

Guided tours of the Purbecks are available for groups.
